Our Story
If Bo-kaap’s architecture impressed you, this is your chance to get a glimpse of the unique culture and traditions of Cape Malays who have lived here for centuries
WELCOME TO BO-KAAP
Our goal in creating the Bo-kaap Cultural Hub and putting together the exhibition was not only to educate people about the rich cultural heritage of Bo-kaap and it’s people, but also to expand on what Bo-kaap has to offer. Not only to the locals but also to visiting tourists.
Whilst the exhibition portrays the vibrant life of Cape Malay culture in static form, we want to further expand to bring you a lifestyle experience with arts and crafts markets, live music performances, cooking demonstrations and much more in the future. A start to this is the opening of Oemmie’s Eetkamer (meaning Mother’s Diningroom), a place for you to experience authentic, homecooked, Cape Malay cuisine.
As exciting as everything is right now, be sure to follow us on our social media platforms for updates on even more to come in the future!
